For Immediate Release November 5, 2019 Madam for America Congratulates Yolanda Young on Her Victory in the Special Election for Missouri House of Representatives, District 22 KANSAS CITY, MO – Today, Madam for America, the Midwest’s resource for Black women in politics, congratulates Yolanda Young on her victory for Missouri House of Representatives, District 22. Dorothy L. McClendon, Esq., president of Madam for America, released the following statement: “We are elated that Yolanda Young was victorious in this special election. As the managing director of Community Outreach and Engagement, former Prevention Program Specialist, and urban farmer we are assured that she will continue to advocate on behalf of working families, our youth, and seniors across Missouri. Madam for America is confident that Yolanda is the best leader for House District 22. The future is bright. We are happy that we have the opportunity to elevate the political power of Black women in the Midwest.” Madam for America, is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to recruiting and training leaders, supporting strong campaigns, and mentoring Black women for public office throughout the Midwest. Since our founding on July 25, 2019, Madam for America has help women win competitive campaigns – in state and local races – and researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. We have helped elect one new women to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2019. Since our launch, more women have reached out to Madam for America about running for office laying the groundwork for candidates for local, state and national offices.
