For Immediate Release February 27, 2020 Madam for America Endorses Megan Marshall for Lee’s Summit School Board (R7) KANSAS CITY, MO – Today, Madam for America, the Midwest’s resource for Black women in politics, endorsed Megan Marshall for Lee’s Summit, Missouri School Board. Dorothy L. McClendon, Esq., president of Madam for America, released the following statement: “Megan Marshall is a public servant dedicated to serving her country, strengthening our communities, supporting our future leaders, teachers and continuing to forge lasting partnerships in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. As an active duty U.S. Marine and a fierce advocate for children’s rights, Megan is ready to continue her exemplary service as a champion for all families in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. “Megan is positioned to become the first African American woman ever elected to the Lee’s Summit School Board. Madam for America is proud to support her campaign to bring new leadership, equity and diversity to the Lee’s Summit School Board R7.” Megan Marshall was raised in Illinois and joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age 17. After 20 years, she is still honorably serving. While deployed in Central America in 2018, her family received an outpouring of support which led to her making Lee’s Summit, Missouri home. Megan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Masters in Public Administration. Megan and her husband, Marcus, are the proud parents of two children and live in the community of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Madam for America, is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to recruiting and training leaders, supporting strong campaigns, and mentoring Black women for public office throughout the Midwest. Since our founding on July 25, 2019, Madam for America has help women win competitive campaigns – in state and local races – and researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. We have helped elect one new women to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2019. Since our launch, more women have reached out to Madam for America about running for office laying the groundwork for candidates for local, state and national offices.
