CLE: Gender Bias and the Decision to Run for Office: The Pathway to Elected Positions

Join Madam for America and AWL as we present this timely CLE program. Our esteemed panelists will discuss how having women and women of color in elected positions add valuable viewpoints to the decision-making process; what they are doing as currently or formerly elected officials to help train others to eliminate bias; and what issues they see in their current positions related to diversity and inclusion, and how that is shaping Missouri/Kansas public policy.

Panelist include:

  • Senator Barbara Washington, Esq.

  • Kansas City Public School Board Member Rita Cortes, Esq.

  • Former Kansas City, Missouri Councilwoman Alissia Canady, Esq.

  • Current Kansas City Councilwoman Andrea Bough, Esq.

This CLE will be held in a hybrid format with in person and virtual attendance options. A social hour will follow at the KCMBA for in person attendees.

CLE Credit: approved for 1.0 hour of ethics/elimination of bias credit in Missouri. The program does not qualify for Kansas CLE credit.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours is required for all in person attendees. Masks will also be required.

This CLE is free to anyone interested. We look forward to seeing you on October 15th!
