Madam for America, is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to recruiting and training leaders, supporting strong campaigns, and mentoring Black women for public office throughout the Midwest. Since our founding on July 25, 2019, Madam for America has helped women win competitive campaigns – in state and local races – and researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. In less than a year in existence, we have helped elect two women to office. In 2020 during COVID-19, we helped one woman make history as the first Black person elected to the Lee’s Summit School Board and we helped one woman to get elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2019, a special election. Since our launch, more women have reached out to Madam for America about running for office laying the groundwork for candidates for local, state and federal offices.
